Pianist/Band Leader Jesse Gelber is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music where he majored in jazz performance and composition. He has won many awards, including a 1997 ASCAP Young Composer’s Award, and first place in the 1992 Marvin Wolff Jazz Piano Competition. Jesse is an expert in the piano styles of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, and regularly performs in New York’s best vintage jazz venues such as The Red Blazer and The Cajun. Jesse plays with veterans of the Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Tommy Dorsey orchestras in Vince Giordanno and the Nighthawks. With a mean "stride" left hand, Jesse can make the piano sound like an entire big band or, in more pensive moments evoke the sophistication of Duke Ellington.
